KABJ was founded in April 2020. Although based in Wichita Kan., the organization represents professional journalists from across the state of Kansas.
KABJ seeks to advocate for Black journalists, create networking opportunities for those in the industry and provide the necessary training to enhance skillsets.
KABJ is always open to partnerships and sponsorships to help further the mission and provide scholarships and educational opportunities for high school and college students and emerging journalists.
KABJ is an affiliate member of NABJ. Located in Region II, KABJ is one of 13 professional chapters and 14 student chapters. The region is comprised of 13 states: Iowa, Ill., Kan., Ky., Mich., Minn., Mo., Neb., ND, Ohio, SD, Wis..
